Objective: Students will identify solid figures in Geometry.

1. Students are given geometric shapes to construct: cone, cube, cylinder, rectangular and triangular prism, square and triangular pyramid. They follow step-by-step directions for each shape to cut, fold and connect sides to form shapes. [concrete, sequential]
2. Once the shape is made students trace each vertice and edge with a highlighter. Each face of the shape is numbered. Next, each student matches a vocabulary card with their shape. [abstract]
3. The concrete/global students match these shapes to real life objects in the classroom. The abstract/sequential students can use books, magazines, or the internet. They /cut-out/print the items to share with the class. [concrete, abstract, global, sequential].

*Our Harcourt textbook does have three-dimensional shapes and vocabulary cards to print for classroom use.
